RIM Developer Blog Lists Their Accomplishments in 2009

failing_back_to_square_one Mike Kirkup did us a solid and compiled a list of their development community accomplishments for 2009 on the official RIM developer blog. The list is impressive and includes one bit of information I had never heard along with some I had forgotten.

Here are some of the ones I found to be worthy of note:

  • There are now over 200,000 registered BlackBerry Developers which is double what RIM had last year
  • Launched BlackBerry App World, Developer Blog, Developer Issue Tracker
  • Launch of quite a few developer tools and plugins including Eclipse, Visual Studio, Widgets, and Theme Studio

Kudos to RIM on the accomplishments especially doubling the developer community. I hope that translates into loads of quality applications coming in 2010. There is quite a bit more at this link but I wanted to know what you thought RIM should have on their list in 2010 or what should have been on the 2009 list… Let us know!

  1. “..There are now over 200,000 registered BlackBerry Developers which is double what RIM had last year.”

And if RIM doesn’t open up some more API’s soon we can look forward to many more message popup apps, flashlight apps, call blocker apps, etc., ad nauseum as these new developers try to make a living.

  2. What the heck are all these developers working on??? I’ve only seen (at most) a few dozen quasi-interesting and/or useful apps out there. I shall remain awaiting to be amazed.
