According to a recent announcement by T-Mobile it looks like their 3G service will be available to over 200 million Americans by the end of 2009. That’s pretty good compared to their “more than 100 million” announcement at the end of 2008.
T-Mobile really shot themselves in the foot by using a non-standard frequency for 3G that no other carrier uses. This means that every T-Mobile 3G phone needs to be tailor made for their 3G service. When the Bold was first announced it looked like T-Mobile will be getting one that ran on their 3G frequency but it has yet to see the light. The 8900 is nice but when will T-Mobile get a 3G BlackBerry? Will they ever?

In all fairness, the didn’t shoot themselves in the foot. They rolled out 3G on the only spectrum for which they had license!
