BlackBerry let us know today that BBM Channels is coming out of beta for BlackBerry 10 and legacy BlackBerry 5.0+ devices. This functionality has been available in the Beta Zone for quite awhile now but it should be in BlackBerry World today. BlackBerry also confirmed it will come to Android and iOS in coming months. BBM channels is a community building tool that allows users to connect with brands, influencers, and BerryReview. 🙂 It has been in beta since May and has been gaining features with every release.
Here is how BlackBerry describes the beta updates:
BBM Channels maintains the BBM core value of giving users’ control over their content by allowing users to join or opt out of channels at their discretion and gives channel owners the ability to deliver content their communities are looking for. Channel owners can post messages, share pictures, spark discussions, post animated GIFs and chat directly with subscribers. Integrated live chat allows channel owners to offer “scheduled chat hours” where BBM users can directly engage with their favorite channels one on one.
The BBM update will begin rolling out at 3 p.m. Eastern Time and continue its roll out throughout the day. Let us know when you spot it!
