Google has been slowly rounding out the features in their Voice service. The latest update adds the ability to get missed call notifications which is essential for me. For example, I can be in the subway with no reception and get a missed call and no voicemail. Annoying way to miss a call and not know about it.
While cellphones suffer from the same issue Google has managed to do something about it for your Google Voice number. You can now choose to have missed calls show up in your Voice inbox. On top of that you can also have missed call notifications sent to you via email.
Nice going Google. Now if only we can get the ability to port your number… I just made sure to leave that suggestion in their survey at this link.

Google voice is way more than just that, you can forward all calls to your google voice, use your google voice voicemail instead of your BB voice service which means, you get a transcript of your voicemail, get it on your email (optional) and on your computer too.
SMS: A biggie, if you sync your contacts from your BB to your gmail, all your contacts will be on your computer updated either way (this time it works…) and you can send SMSs for free.
The downside, when you receive an SMS on your google voice, it pops up in your regular SMS and google voice too.
Dear Google, when is your first hybrid car due?
