Score one for Team Social @RIM. RIM has usually been a laggard when it comes to social engagement. They have been doing a great job over the last year of catching up but this latest update is impressive. They have added yet another consumer twist to the once stodgy www.blackberry.com website by adding a social taskbar.
If you head to the homepage or download page on www.blackberry.com you will see what I mean (Though RIM.com does not have the bar). If you have JavaScript enabled you will be able to share pages on multiple social networks along with links to follow RIM on their many social networking landing pages including their own MyBlackBerry. They have also added the ubiquitous Facebook Like button. It seems like they have implemented it using the light yet powerful Mootools JavaScript framework giving OpenSource software another leg up @RIM.
Let us know what you think of the update!
