MobiMouse v1.1.1 Released: Assign Shortcuts To BlackBerry Convenience Keys

mobimouseWe mentioned MobiMouse when it first came out as a great application that lets you use your BlackBerry as a mouse for your computer over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Their latest version 1.1.1 adds some serious functionality by letting you assign Windows applications and shortcuts to the BlackBerry convenience keys. That means you can program the Send, End, Volume up & down, right, & left convenience keys to open different applications or perform different functions. It would be cool if mute could put your PC in standby… 🙂

This is a free upgrade if you purchased MobiMouse previously. If not the application is currently on sale for $7.99 in the store at this link with a free 7 day trial.

From the description:

  1. The download link for the PC side software is broken at the mobimouse website

    http://www.mobimouse.mobi/clickonce/

the install link makes a 404 error.

  2. FYI, we just updated MobiMouse to version 1.1.2 to fix some volume problems in Vista.

The clickonce link is working — try it again.

    • The page now says 1.1.2, but the install link still makes a 404 error. The file simply is not there.

Fortunately, I was able to find the 1.1.1 file at other download sites. I’ll look around for the 1.1.2 file now.

      • The clickonce install must be done on a PC browser – it’s for Windows Internet Explorer but there is a plug in available for Firefox.

There is also a zip file you can download to your PC that has both the BlackBerry and Windows Clients.

        • Using IE 7, on a windows XP sp 3 PC, when you click on the little box labelled Install, you get the following:

          Object not found!
The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

Anyway, folks who want the program may want to know that it’s available for download from Softpedia:

        • That’s because you have Javascript disabled in IE.

This has been changed to download the desktop installer if you don’t have Javascript enabled but you won’t get the benefits of clickonce.

The program is available at http://www.mobimouse.mobi

Softpedia is not an authorized distributor of MobiMouse.
