IM+ 7.0 Released: Adds Facebook Chat & Avatar Support

implus7 SHAPE Services released version 7.0 of their popular IM+ instant messaging application today. The new version brings Facebook chat and avatars to the application. Facebook users are now able to exchange text instant messages with smileys, send files, log in into multiple accounts simultaneously and preview avatar images of their buddies in contact list. IM+ 7.0 also supports eight instant messaging services: AIM®/iChat, MSN®/Windows Live, Yahoo!, MySpaceIM, Jabber, ICQ, GoogleTalk, and Facebook.

They also have a cool IM push technology where IM+ allows to exchange instant messages without keeping IM+ running, the messages get converted to emails and delivered into BlackBerry inbox thus saving battery life. Not sure if that appeals to everybody but its a cool idea. On the other hand this application is priced in the stratosphere…

You can pick up the application OTA at this link or pick it up in the store for a pricey $49.95 at this link.

Thanks Tashanna, DavidB, & Terry for sending this in!

  1. 50$!!! I was literally on my way to buy that app., until I read that. Are they insane? My BB only cost me 129$..

2.99 maybe I would have bought it.

  2. @ Andrew:

It’s $30 for a lifetime-swappable license, but well worth it.
I used IM+ back in the day when it first came out and was a beta tester and did a couple reviews on it. It was okay back then, as we were limited on what IM programs that we had. However, the UI and features are so elementary compared to beejive now.
I am surprised they haven’t dropped the price of it to $19.99.
Especially considering the fact that Translator+ is only $9.99.
To me, Translator+ is WELL worth $19.99-$29.99 for those that have a use for it.
It’s absurd to have IM+ priced at $50.00. Absolutely ridiculous.

  3. Beejive is much better than im+

I bought im+ first ages ago because I didn’t know about beejive, so it was $50 wasted. Beejive is easier to use and more stable.

Anyone reading this, go with beejive! Their facebook chat beta is cool cool cool.

  4. I agree completely with Lewis, beejive is cheaper, and it works a lot better with fewer disconnects than IM+. I started off with IM+ and after a week of constant disconnects with no notifications that I was disconnected as well as an annoying inability to connect to the IM+ service I made the switch to beejive and have been happy ever since.

  5. There is a discount for BlackBerry Software by SHAPE Services. IM+ costs 19.95 only!
