CTIA has been a busy time for RIM this year. Together with Sprint they have officially announced the previously leaked 8350i which will be a welcome reprieve for anybody still using the 7100i or older devices. The device packs quite a few features including the lauded Push To Talk/Direct Connect.
The features include:
- OS 4.6!!!
- Direct Connect (beep beep)
- Group connect
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- 2MP camera
- GPS
- Mini USB
- MicroSD

Humm…. It seems wifi is RIM’s answer to the lack of bandwidth of iDen network…

I am still shocked by this one. Not only does this 8350 fit in iDen, but also GPS AND WiFi! I guess the original line that the 83XXs don’t have enough room for both GPS and WiFi was bogus. Plus it runs OS 4.6. I’d love to see some OS 4.6 builds pop on the net for the 8320, but still waiting for something higher than 4.5.0.69…

It IS bogus that the 83xx doesn’t have room, they just want to force people to get the 88xx! but since GPS is an integrated feature for the IDEN network, they HAVE to put it in… (remember the 7100i?)
