BlipSocial Beta – Location Aware Applications
BlipSocial is a bit hard to describe. Kevin @ CrackBerry did a decent job so I thought I would take a crack at it. Essentially it takes a few applications and adds your location awareness to the mix. It works with or without GPS but obviously it is better with. I have not tested it without GPS so I am not sure how that would work.
BlipSocial has the basics built in. The obvious movies, weather, Yelp, and such are there. There is also some sort of Facebook integration that I have not managed to figure out so far. It also lets you post a note for a location and let other people see your notes and you see theirs. They also have the San Francisco BART public transportation system info in the system but thats it for now. Hopefully they will expand that.
The coolest part is that BlipSocial has developed an API to allow other developers to create location aware websites. This should be interesting…
If you the type who loves betas head on over to www.blipsocial.com. If you browse from your BlackBerry it will prompt you to install the application.
