RIM Confirms Short UK Outage Is Over (Vodafone Specific?)

Switchyard 4

It seems like Vodafone users in the UK and elsewhere in Europe were having BIS issues earlier this morning. From what we are hearing it seems like the outage is over and was caused by an upgrade/maintenance gone bad. I was not aware of maintenance happening in EMEA today since there is a window scheduled for tomorrow and another for the 29th to upgrade the BlackBerry Provisioning System to 10.1 for BlackBerry 10.

Here is the statement RIM originally sent out to confirm the issue: (via CrackBerry)

“We are currently experiencing a BlackBerry service issue impacting some users in Europe, Middle East & Africa. All relevant support teams are working to resolve the issue. We apologize to any customers who may be affected.”

And their follow up confirming the outage is over: (via N4BB)

“Our apologies to any customers impacted by the BlackBerry service issue today. We can confirm that services have been restored and are now operating normally.”

Hopefully RIM will get the updates out easily this weekend and next. Here is a summary of what they are doing:

BlackBerry support teams will be using this time to upgrade the BlackBerry Provisioning System to version 10.1 which is a continuation of support for the upcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system (OS).
