We told you awhile back that BBM Canada (Bureau of Broadcast Measurement) sued RIM over using their BBM Trademark. I predicted back then that the case would be thrown out or ruled in RIM’s favor since the trademark is for a company that measures Canadian TV and Radio audiences. The Federal Court of Canada confirmed that RIM did not infringe on BBM Canada’s trademark. This is a nice reprieve for RIM since BBM Canada wanted RIM to pay them to change their name.
Either way isn’t it nice when the court systems actually do something that makes sense instead of all this patent nonsense? Thanks RedNightHawk for sending this in via CNet & Reuters

I am some glad that BBM will remain ours. I never even heard of the other company till they showed in court.
Congrats RIM.
