The BlackBerry partners fund has announced the 28 regional semi-finalists (7 per region) for the third annual Developer Challenge. These 28 were selected from the nearly 400 applications that made it through the first round of judging. These regional semi-finalists will each receive a prize package valued at ~$16,000, including a BlackBerry smartphone and accessory, prominent placement for one week on BlackBerry App World, an app promo package, and more. They are still competing for a prize package valued at over $1.5 million.
The four global regions are North America (NA), Latin America (LATAM), Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (AP) – and are broken down into seven categories: Productivity, Fun & Games, Knowledge, Sharing, Navigate & Explore, Multi-media, and In the Know. The next round is for the Regional Finalists (top 3 in each region) and then the Regional Winners (one per region) which will be announced later this month.
