Facebook is really growing fast in the mobile space. According to the head of mobile products at Facebook, Eric Tseng, Facebook now has 150 mobile users. That is up from 100 million this April which is crazy. That is a amazing 50% growth in a short period. Supposedly in the next 6 months Facebook plans on making their mobile Android and iPhone apps catch up with its PC interface. No word on their BlackBerry app since that is the only mobile Facebook app developed by a device manufacturer (RIM) instead of Facebook.
I took a look at the stats for the RIM developer Facebook for BlackBerry app and it looks like BlackBerry users account for a tad under 18.7 million of those mobile users. It is the 9th most popular Facebook app according to AppData which is pretty impressive considering that FarmVille tops the list with 62 million users.
Hopefully RIM will soon add some more advanced features to the Facebook for BlackBerry app like Facebook Chat which is a much requested feature. Even cooler would be if they let developers tie into the app to post things to Facebook through the RIM app.
