North America BIS 2.4 Server Upgrade/Outage June 7-8th

OutagestockworkerJust got another notice from Joe at Dataoutages.com and confirmed by Remzi. Turns out there is an outage scheduled for North America next week. From what I am gathering this is an update to the BIS 2.4 servers. Anybody know if they are upgrading to BIS 2.5?

I love how we all have to rely on a 3rd party source to find out this information, still..John does a great service with http://dataoutages.com but how hard would it be for RIM to share this information, we all know come June 7th and 8th their will be TONNES of users not “in the know” who will be flooding their carriers looking for answers..

  2. Hi, I checked their FAQ page which is listed in the article above and this is what it says:

    ‘When swapping out of a contract, you can usually Avoid losing your number by “Porting” your number Before the Actual Transfer. However, the porting process is entirely under the jurisdiction of the carrier and is beyond our control. Porting policies seem to change very often with each carrier. Therefore, we suggest that to get a definitive answer to your question please contact your specific carrier. ”

    But of course, if you were really interested, I would suggest calling cellswapper.com’s number (I think they even have live chat) and asking them directly how it would work in the case where the number couldn’t be ported.
