RIM has listened once again to customer demands with their latest update to BlackBerry World. They have implemented tiered pricing that will take currency exchange rates and VAT requirements into account. They are starting with the British Pound (GPB) and Euro (EUR) currencies but expect more soon. This essentially means that a $0.99 app will not cost £0.99 or €0.99. Instead RIM has lowered the lowest tier in the UK to £0.75 with Euro pricing being different in each country due to VAT. RIM’s goal in the end is to have prices stay in line with currency fluctuations.
Kudos to the RIM App World team for making this happen. Hopefully it spreads quickly! You can find more details in the announcement.
