BlackBerry has long been pushing BlackBerry developers to have clear privacy statements and disclosures. Now they have taken things a step further by creating straightforward guidance for developers who publish apps in BlackBerry World. With other platforms suffering from privacy concerns every day its nice to see that BlackBerry is trying to drive more accountability and transparency. To discourage privacy infringing apps they released a new general guidance doc their seven principles for privacy best practice:
- Use the Principle of Least Permissions – Limiting Collection
- Consider the Impact of Third-Party Code
- Get Consents and Implement a Privacy Policy
- Be Accountable
- Be Transparent
- Secure Your Customers’ Data
- Empower Your Customers to Control Their Information
