BlackBerry Jakarta Rumored To Be "Touchscreen Only" Low End Device from Foxconn

BlackBerry 10 Devices

BlackBerry made a splash when they signed a 5 year manufacturing agreement with Foxconn to create phones for emerging markets. The first such device is the Jakarta which is supposed to be for Indonesia as a low end device. Now the BGR is reporting that the Jakarta is rumored to be a touchscreen only device. If true that would be one of the craziest moves that John Chen has made so far. The legacy devices selling decently in Indonesia and other emerging markets are mostly physical keyboard devices. I am not sure why BlackBerry would give up the keyboard unless they are making use of unused parts left over from the Z10…

What do you think? Does a touchscreen only low end 3G only BlackBerry 10 device stand a fighting chance in the brutal low end market?
