As of writing this article App World now has 10,077+ BlackBerry applications listed. That is a pretty impressive number for RIM considering how many they had only a year or two ago. We mentioned back on August 26th that RIM was nearing the 10,000 app mark. In the 12 days since then they have added 189 apps which is an impressive ~16 apps a day. Nothing compared to the rate of other app stores which number in the tens of thousands but it means that RIM is finally starting to rally on the app front.
I am hoping RIM is going to release some tools at DevCon this month that will help get that number closer to 50,000 by this time next year. I totally realize that we need quality over quantity but options count for something. For example, I am REALLY missing a solid RSS reader on my Torch. Is there any reason why we cannot get something better than Social Feeds?
