Zimbra is a groupware alternative to Microsoft Exchange for companies that supports email, group calendars, and document sharing. They just announced this week that they are releasing a connector for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 for their solution called the Zimbra Connector for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 6.5 (ZCB 6.5). It will be released in the first half of Q4 which is right around the corner.
They claim their new connector will provide native synchronization of mail, address book, calendar and tasks to BlackBerry devices and will also support Windows Server 2008 (32- and 64-bit). It is nice to see more and more collaboration suites supporting BES though it would be even nicer if RIM would find a way for companies to not need BES for full email and PIM sync.
