BuddyGuard Beta 3 Released to Protect Your BlackBerry

BuddyGuardWe told you back in December about TerraMobility’s BuddyGuard Beta. They just let us know they have updated the beta to version 3 with the enhanced features listed below. The app is free during beta and helps you protect your BlackBerry and find it if you have misplaced it. The app also lets you remotely wipe or lock your BlackBerry or make it play a tone so you can find it.

You can find the update version of the app at this link or catch the new features below.

Enhanced Features in Beta 3:

  • The Lock command has been enhanced to secure your BlackBerry with a screen that displays your contact information. This screen includes a "Call Owner" button that allows the person who finds your phone to have one click access for contacting you. Your BlackBerry will remain locked until your enter your password, even if your phone is rebooted. Since many users don’t set their system password, this feature now uses your BuddyGuard password, ensuring that your phone will truly be locked.

Your BlackBerry will remain locked until your enter your password, even if your phone is rebooted.
  • In addition to sounding a tone, the Alert command will now lock your BlackBerry and display the same contact information available with the Lock command. This allows you to know that your phone will be secure regardless of whoever finds it.
  • The Wipe command has been enhanced to delete even more data. Now, in addition to Contacts, Emails, and Phone Logs, the Wipe command will remove your files from Device Memory and the SD Card.
  • We’ve made the application easier to use, with a "Welcome to BuddyGuard" email for first time users, and more descriptive email responses, including suggestions for other commands that may be pertinent.

  1. Tested and this is PRECISELY what kept me from using bg regularly!! It works so well now thanks!!
    Amazing BG!!

  2. Downloaded from the link provided, but it installed for a touchscreen though I have a 9000. So I tried the bb Appworld version, and that installed ok. However when I run the program it asks for my password, which I haven’t set yet. The recover password button does nothing since I haven’t given it my e-mail either. So basically I can’t access the program.

  3. when locked, 1st u have to type the device password, then the bg password.. So my question, what happens when someone types the wrong device password 10 times?

  4. Awesome product. Just what i have been looking for. Give it a go!

  5. Hi. I downloaded the BuddyGuard app to my blackberry phone a few days ago, but it never got “active” because after the installation, it appeared a message that said it could not be done because of some permissions, or something like that. The point was, it wasnt completed and it was never active.

Even though it wasnt completed, today I took the battery off from the blackberry, and when i putted it on, a message appeared saying:

“This phone has been reported as lost and has been remotely locked”
“UNLOCK” (NO “recover password” option appears)

(But when i writte my password, it says it is a wrong password. I´ve tried a thousand different possible passwords, and NOTHING. Dont know if it has something to do to the non-finished installation, or something like that)

PLEASE! I´M DESPERATED! any ideas on how can I recover my password? or solve this probelm?

    THANKS
