Google made an interesting patent application recently for their Google Voice product. Essentially it looks like Google is planning on inserting advertisements when there is silence in a call. For example, when a caller is dialing, when the call is suspended via call waiting, and when the call is placed on hold.
I am not sure how well this will go over with users but I do realize that Google needs to find some way to make money off Google Voice. The question is if advertising is the answer… What do you think?

Well, I certainly hope they stick to adwords (via transcription). If it works for gmail, it should work for voicemail, righ?

How do you define silence?
If a tree falls in the forest and no one’s around it, does it make a sound..:p
