8900 Curve Decked Out in 24Kt Gold – Why Oh Why!

javelin1-14kt-gold I always have a hard time comprehending people spending more than the something is worth to “improve” it. Take for example all of the tiny Honda Civics with custom body jobs and loud mufflers. I just don’t get it.

Kevin spotted one of these extravagances with Computer Choppers 24Kt gold BlackBerry 8900 Curve. At about $999 for a new unlocked device with their 24Kt treatment this price is a bit high for my wallet. It actually does not even look that good in my opinion…

Check it out at this link

So what do you think? Personally I think it would have been cooler if they decked it out with Black Nickel/Chrome like the MacBook Pro option.

  1. Yea, that is an idiotic move…what are you going to do when it’s time to get new Blackberry [phone], sell the back? But, you’re right. The crap doesn’t look good. If you’re going to have gold, then you should at least have the face of the phone to accent the gold. I.E. White or silver. It looks tacky.

  2. Gold plating does not use a great deal of gold. The plating can be very thin and cost the designer very little, which means that their profit margin is pretty good…

  3. It’s hideous!
