RIM & Motorola Still Pointing Fingers Over Patents
Motorola and RIM seem to still be squabbling like children over their patents. RIM’s contract for 14 Motorola patents expired in 2007 after RIM said that Moto was demanding unreasonable terms to renew. Ten of Motorola’s questionable patents are currently under review from the patent office so the judge ruling over the case is putting it on hold until that is over. Not sure what is happening with the other 4.
The fun part is that RIM claims that Motorola is using 9 of their patents so maybe they will just agree to disagree… Makes me wonder what these patents are all about. When I have some time I will pour over the docs unless somebody knows?
Now if only they would settle this like reasonable adults over a game of no-holds barred boxing…
I am sure they could even sell tickets.
