HOT! SocialScope Alpha – AWESOME Native BlackBerry Twitter & Facebook Client – Request An Invite NOW!!!

socialscope Josep let me know about a slick new alpha application that I HAD to mention. It is by a company called SocialScope and is currently in alpha stage. Sadly I cannot post screenshots since they asked us kindly not to but you can register online to enter in the Alpha testing. I signed up and within 5 minutes I had my invite!!! They say that this is a limited Alpha so get in on the testing now by signing up at www.socialscope.net.

NOTE: Sadly I cannot post screenshots since SocialScope kindly asked that we not do so.

SocialScope essentially is a native Twitter and Facebook status client for your BlackBerry. It aggregates your social networks (Facebook & Twitter for now) and updates your status on both. It also lets you view your twitter timeline! My favorite is the fact that it supports keyboard shortcuts. So far I have been liking it ALOT more than TwitterBerry due to its absolutely slick User Interface! It looks better than the RIM Facebook client.

Features include:

  • New updates are automatically pushed to your phone
  • View all your friend’s recent activities on one screen
  • Post stuff to all your social networks with one click
  • Compose new updates directly from your Inbox
  • See a contact’s activities right from your Address Book
  • AutoText support in the update field
  • Support for shortcut keys in detail view (R-reply, C-compose(update), D-direct Message)
  • Better native application menu behavior

Wow super app! This will totally replace the RIM Facebook app once they get a few more features added such as: sending a msg, uploading a photo, writing to a wall, and poke to work.

So I was one of the 200 to get the Alpha copy but I am having some serious trouble getting it to work on my Storm. They said that they are working on a Storm specific version and will release it to me soon but for now it should run in compatability mode on my phone. I am going to keep trying!!

  8. I don’t get why developers refuse to compete on features. It seems that everyone is competing on UI. I agree that it is an important part of the user experience, after all I’m a Mac user. But, why not offer users things they _cannot_ do with any competitive product? Instead competing products seem to try to out do each other by doing things prettier (and occasionally simpler).

Case in point I hear people everywhere begging for a way to utilize multiple accounts on a single network (Twitter, GMail, etc.) but that is never offered. If SocialScope were to allow you to update multiple twitter accounts from one app, it would be the only option for those interested in that functionality (and trust me, many people are). They would land all those users regardless of how each felt about which items should be 1, 2, 3, or 4 clicks away. That is a smart way to play the game. Yes, you should try to be the prettiest most usable app out there, but take the non-subjective wins every chance you get.

  9. Just had a tweet from @socialscope – waiting for my invite – should arrive any minute… v excited… ;)
