Bank Of America Reaches Over 1 Million Mobile Users

BofamobigenericThis should be a lesson to all the other major banks. Your customers want mobile access to their account information!!!  BofA.mobi has over 100,000 users a day on peak days.

We mentioned the mobile Bank Of America website back in May and readers were very interested.

So I have to ask. What is taking all the other major Banks so long? For example WaMu is still stuck with the idea that I want to play text message tag with them to get my balance.

BofA has some interesting stats posted in their press release:

Top 10 cities

  1. Los Angeles, CA
  2. Atlanta, GA
  3. Washington DC
  4. Dallas, TX
  5. New York, NY
  6. Houston, TX
  7. Phoenix, AZ
  8. Boston, MA
  9. Miami, FL
  10. Anaheim, CA

Almost all customers use Bank of America’s Mobile Banking service to view account balances, eight in ten review transactions, while four in ten use their handhelds to transfer funds or pay bills. Frequency of use by active users continues to increase monthly, with over 4 million account sessions in May 2008 alone.

Notably, two-thirds of Bank of America’s mobile bankers are under 35 years old and four out of five are under 45 years old, as Gen Y and X consumers who have embraced mobile web technology are similarly driving mobile banking usage.

  1. This is really cool, it is something chase needs to adapt to, I hate chase concept of texting you your bank information.

  2. Does anyone else using BoA’s homescreen link find that sometimes it doesn’t work? Specifically that the “Sign In” link doesn’t show up? I generally re-install the homescreen link (quick to do) and that fixes that, but I’ve had to do that a few times, and ever had that problem with other homescreen links.

  3. Sure wish they’d bring their systems up to par in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle is noticably absent from this list. Tech savvy populace, but WA state is on a different, much crappier system than the rest of the country. Kills me…

  4. I have had the sign in not showing as well. The last time this happened, I clicked on some of the links and I ended up on their homepage.

  5. Can you tell me how do you reintall the homescreen link for the b of a mobile banking? i’ve used it for the past year with no problems, and this weekend, i lost the sign in link.
