We’re Live At CES! – Press Day Coming To An End

IMG_4009Well the first half of the day has passed here at CES without much of interest. Sunday is what they call press day which is mostly the larger companies announcing one product and fluffing up their figures of how they are slowly taking over the consumer electronics world. The big focus is on Flat Panel TV’s rather than Cellphones which is annoying so there is not much news to share. It is the same bramble by the biggies such as Pioneer, Samsung, Phillips, Sharp, Panasonic… you get the picture.

RIM should finally be sticking its head out tonight at the Digital Experience event. Hopefully we will see something new from RIM at the event. I will be heading down there once I get some grub.

Some snapshots of news that may interest some. LG has announced a new mobile TV standard to add to the other 3 main competitors but that is mostly the same old. Samsung has shown some serious interest on melding consumer focus with some cool tech such as RSS on your TV. It seems like many of the vendors have announced some sort of IPTV today including Sharp & Samsung. Not much going on in the mobile field for now.

Phillips won my award as the worst/fluffiest press conference I have ever sat through. It was a complete waste of time. I will have to upload the video up to youtube later because I can’t do it justice in words. You can see two pics of the fugly Phillips tech jewelry after the jump.

If your into checking out what the press events looked like you can check out the bad pics I took at the event after the jump.
