Absolute Software Launches BlackBerry Beta

Computrace-by-Absolute Nate passed this onto me to investigate and check out, so far what I am seeing on the BlackBerry release is very limited, as limiting as their Beta is to the rest of the world. Saying that the controlled beta is under way with Commercial Customers.

Absolute Software already have a Mobile release for other manufacturer devices as well as a solid product line for mobile computing, so Computrace Mobile for the BlackBerry platform will be delivering some of the same functionality from those products:

Reduced operational costs associated with managing mobile devices by leveraging the Computrace platform’s integrated Customer Center reporting for hardware, software and user information.

An additional layer of data protection and increased compliance with government data breach laws through remote Data Delete capabilities.

The ability to geolocate a device and displayed it on a map. (Only performed with the prior consent of the device owner.)

It will be interesting to see how they leverage the functionality of their software with what can already be seen via the BlackBerry Server, apart from Geo-Locating.

I have requested more information and access to their Beta, so as soon as I have more information and a product to see I will certainly be passing this onto you all.
