Coming soon: waterproof Blackberry!
This was posted by Blackberry Cool two days ago already, but I thought it was so interesting I thought I had to share it with as many people as possible.
The Northeast Maritime Institute is working on something called the Golden Shellback, splash proof coatings. It is …
a unique coating that protects critical operational equipment against damage and loss of function caused by exposure to weather and moisture. It is ideal for application in the electronics industry.
In other words, you should be able to coat your Blackberry (or any other electronic device) with this protective substance and be connected 24/7 through rain, sleet or snow. Actually, you can even dip it in water as demonstrated in their video. You could take your Blackberry to the shower!
Their FAQ page states that they still need 4 to 6 months to make the product available, but it isn’t clear when that was written, so it could be sooner than that. If you’re too excited, you can follow their Twitter channel, with up-to-date news and a little more background information. Stay tuned!
