John Chen

After the earnings call, CNBC had the opportunity to get John Chen on air with them. Focusing primarily on the launch and availability of the BES12, John Chen and BlackBerry seems to be pretty encouraged by it. Check out it out!

Here’s the transcript:

Anyway, people are buying both the 7 and the 10. we have — we’re working out inventory in the channel on the 10. as you see now earnings released, we reduce the channel inventory by one-third. so it’s — our headset is still moving. moving quite nicely, too. also, let’s talk about blackberry enterprise server or bes as you’re referring to it now. that is really key to the strategy going forward. you’re talking more about bes 12 now as opposed to 10 saying november time frame is when we should expect to see that. what are the early indications that the enterprise is actually going to buy this and that you will see some revenue growth out of that going forward? thank you. we announced the bes 12 at mobile world congress. it was really a respond to a lot of enterprise customers saying that they do not want — they want to stay with blackberry but they do not want to have two infrastructure. both the bbos infrastructure as well as best ten infrastructure. this is a respond to combine two as one. and, also, to really highlight our real good technology in the cross platform, in managing iphone and windows devices. this is one infrastructure that could manage everything for a company. so when we — when i start go and speak to customers, they love it. they all are very positive about it. most of them asking for beta status. as you pointed out, it’s going to come out in November. the hit rates on our landing page, on our website, has been really great. over 100,000 hit rate so far. and a lot of people register, a lot of company register for more details. it’s a very encouraging sign at this point.
