It seems like BlackBerry is working double time to vastly improve BBM while also monetizing it. Their latest effort may revolve around selling custom BBM PIN numbers just like states offer custom license plates. PIN numbers in BBM are actually an interesting concept because it is one of the only messaging systems that lets you add contacts without knowing their phone number, email address, or other personal information. You also have to allow people to message you by opting in to friends.
In a recent survey spotted by N4BB, BlackBerry seems to be feeling out users about personalizing BBM PIN numbers. They asked if users would be interested in personalizing their BBM PIN e.g., 11112222, COOLDUDE, BB3RRY10 to see if users would be interested. My guess is people would be though I am sort of scared of the eventual results.
