Long time BlackBerry CIO Robin Bienfait retired abruptly at the end of 2012 and since then has been in transition. Now my buddy Kevin @CrackBerry has word from a reliable source that Bienfait is coming out of retirement and has some new shoes to fill. Supposedly she is taking the role of Chief Technology Innovations Officer at Samsung Telecommunications America. This is an interesting role coming from a CIO who was rumored to be pushed out due to lack of innovation and squandering BlackBerry’s lead in the MDM market.
It should be interesting to see how this one plays out. Bienfait will definitely help Samsung get some credibility in the enterprise space though that does not really have much to do with innovation…
