Ever since I caught word about an HDMI, microUSB dock for the BlackBerry Z10 I wanted one more than J. S. Chen wants a Thor sized severance package.
Since the official dock has been on hold for at least 38 months, I looked to other sources. I managed to score this Kidigi beauty from my friends at MyTrendyPhone.com and it works great. It comes with a microUSB to USB cable and an adapter to work in European power outlets. The HDMI connection is standard so any regular HDMI cable will work. I decided to use a folding blade PlayBook charger which plugs into the microUSB input as shown below.
The only downside to the dock that would also apply to any other dock is, you pretty much lose access to your Z10. I can see why there is a focus on wireless streaming rather than corded. When I’m watching a movie or show, I want to be able to get through the boring/sappy/romantic/lame parts by playing a little Minion Rush or introducing my Android and iOS friends to the joys of the BBM PING!!! war.
As of right now, these docks are out of stock, but you can head to MyTrendyPhone and sign up for an email update when they’re back in stock. Check out the links below to find the site closest to you:
