Over the weekend Reuters revealed a bit more about what was going on during BlackBerry’s strategic review. It turns out that the board rejected breakup offers for the company from Microsoft, Apple, Lenovo, and more that only wanted parts of the company. Supposedly Microsoft and Apple wanted the intellectual property and patents. This is on top of talking to Cisco, Google, and LEnovo in the past. BlackBerry’s board supposedly felt that this convertible debt was the best way to turn around the company since some of the BlackBerry assets are so intertwined they would lose value in a company breakup.
