With the arrival of BlackBerry 10 came a new naming system for devices. Gone are the days of the 4 numbers with attached category names like Curve, Torch, and Bold. The Z10 was the first BB10 device out of the gate and I loved the simplicity. I have no idea what the Z stands for but due to its rarity in the english language it has automatic uniqueness. I thought that A10 might have been more appropriate and give natural succession however Z being the last letter in the alphabet it is infinitely cooler than A, the cool kids always sit in the back of the bus. The Q10 was a lot easier to figure out with its “Q”werty keyboard.
The other day I came across a post by user 00stryder on CB which opened my eyes. His avatar was the picture of a scrabble Z. For those of you who may have not experienced the board game for themselves, there is only 2 letters worth 10 points Q and Z. Add this to the fact that BB10 is a great gaming platform and has amazing language capabilities, and you can come up with some parallels which start becoming less and less coincidental. Mystery Solved Thorsten is a scrabble fan. I just can’t wait until my Z10 lands on a triple letter spot…Z30!
