Previously, we told you that OpenWhatsApp was submitted to the BlackBerry AppWorld, and subsequently, available for sideload download. OpenWhatsApp brings a free open source WhatsApp client to BlackBerry 10 while we wait for the official client, rumoured to come this week. Now, OpenWhatsApp let us know that they have updated their client to version 0.9.4!

Now, its only 2 days since the initial release of OpenWhatsapp and an update is already available. The update brings some new features to the alternative WhatsApp Client. You now have a settings page where you can set different options for display layout, notifications and conversation options. Contacts now has a Text field for searching, and I also fixed the issue with links not being clickable in sent and received messages.
In addition, update checker is now included in the application so you can get updates within the application!
Nonetheless, with more signs that Whatsapp will come officially this week, you might also want to hold off till it arrives.
