While chatting with one of my friends on the BlackBerry 10 browser team I discovered a few hidden improvements in the BlackBerry 10 Browser. I will be covering them as fast as I can but here is the first one. You can now add BerryReview as a search engine option in the BlackBerry 10 browser. That makes it easy to search through our whole site easily without having to first go to the homepage and search. This should give you some stop gap functionality until our BlackBerry 10 app and BlackBerry 10 mobile site redesign are released shortly.

To add BerryReview as a search provider just fire up your BlackBerry 10 browser and head to www.berryreview.com. You can then click the 3 dot menu button and select the “Add Search” option. Next time you perform a search you can just tap the browser search bar and click the search icon to search BerryReview.

The best part is that once you add BerryReview as a search engine you can now use that option in Universal Search. If you are searching your device using Universal Search you will now have the option to “Extend the Search” to BerryReview.

This is one of those little additions in BlackBerry 10 that really show how the platform shines. More on the browser shortly!

NOTE: If you are a developer and want to know how to easily add this feature to your site simply check out the OpenSearch standard. To add it to BerryReview we simply added a file in the root directory of the website titled ‘opensearch.xml’ along with adding a link to the content on the header of each page.
