BlackBerry Lays Out Options for Limited Edition Developer Devices (Verizon)

BlackBerry has been sending out qualification letters for those who are eligible to get the Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 devices but there is one catch. We told you earlier that the Limited Edition devices will not be available on Verizon’s network due to “unforeseen, circumstances beyond BlackBerry’s control.” Some developers reached out to BlackBerry saying they would be willing to get a regular BlackBerry 10 device on Verizon if a limited edition was not available and BlackBerry agreed. They are now offering these two options for developers on Verizon:

  1. Request a Verizon BlackBerry 10 device to replace their BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha, adhering to the same terms and conditions of the Limited Edition device in order to qualify. This will be a final commercial device and will ship when BlackBerry 10 is commercially available on Verizon.
  2. Request a Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 device from an alternate carrier, one which is supported as a part of the Limited Edition program.

BlackBerry will be sending out emails to those who have already confirmed they are on Verizon and selected another device. Check out the details on the DevBlog and kudos to BlackBerry for offering the option.

  1. Whatever contract Blackberry® has with Verizon isn’t best for them. Couldn’t use my blackberry on Verizon when I came to the USA for silly reasons! Big up blackberry and play smart with the telecom companies in the US. Verizon aint different from any other telcom out here in the states.
