BlackBerry 10 Limited Edition Developer Model Not Coming in Verizon Variant

 limited-edition

First things first its nice to see RIM confirm that Verizon will launch BlackBerry 10 devices. With that said we have heard from a few readers that they have received emails from RIM about their BlackBerry 10 Limited Edition developer device. For developers who requested that their Limited Edition device be a Verizon device RIM is sadly not going to be able to accommodate. RIM is saying that Verizon is still committed to launching BlackBerry 10 but they will not be able to offer the “limited edition” model from Verizon. They will instead be sending developers a 4G device.

Check out the full email below but I am still stuck on the wording. They do not state if they will send you a Verizon 4G device that just is not a Limited Edition or a 4G variant that will not work on Verizon. Let us know what you think.

Hello _________,

We want to start by saying thank you for you continued support and commitment to the BlackBerry 10 platform. The excitement around this launch, device and platform is palpable and we owe our developer community a debt of gratitude for that. In fact, that’s one reason we want to give the Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 smartphone to our developers.

I wanted to let you know that although you have applied to receive a BlackBerry 10 Limited Edition device, we are not able to offer the device from Verizon. Instead we will send you a 4G device.

Please note that Verizon is completely committed to launching BlackBerry 10 devices, but we are not able to order the Limited Edition devices at this time.

Thank you,
BlackBerry Developer Relations Team
