I keep on wondering how far Verizon will be able to push customers before they revolt and say “the network” is not worth it. It looks like their “Screw Customers Every Way Possible” policy is continuing in full swing. Earlier this morning Verizon’s CEO reaffirmed via the WSJ that they have no intention of lowering prices on wireless. He was asked if price pressure from the new Softbank stake in Sprint would make Verizon lower prices and he responded that "We’ve seen low price providers come and go over the years. And so, we’re not going to be adjusting our game."
Now Verizon has taken things even further in finding ways to mess with customers by offering a new “Optional” Verizon Selects advertising service. They will be sending customers an email or text message offering them the honor of sharing their data usage, location, web browsing, and other usage to send customers targeted advertisements. You will get these advertisements as email, SMS, or other methods.
Thankfully Verizon did not take this to its inevitable conclusion off the bat and made Verizon Selects optional but I wonder how long that will last. So anyone want to sign up for some free intrusive data mined advertisements!
