One of RIM’s acquisitions that I have been following closely is when they purchased NewBay in Ireland back in October 2011. @BB10VW pointed out on Twitter that RIM actually made the acquisition official on October 26th, 2011 which makes it almost 1 year to the day. When RIM announced the acquisition they said that “NewBay team will be bringing their expertise in cloud-based digital content services to the BlackBerry platform.” We saw a small peek of what RIM may be doing with NewBay at BlackBerry World earlier this year but then there were rumors that RIM was considering selling off NewBay.
I am really curious to see what sort of cloud connectivity RIM adds to BlackBerry 10 since they have been mum on that front. Let us know what you think NewBay will power in BlackBerry 10 and what they have been working on for the last year.
