Devs: RIM’s "Massive Change on Collaboration; Let’s Be Open and Let’s Provide Choice"

A friend of mind sent me a great interview done by H-Online with RIM’s Pelegri Llopart and Tim Neil. They were talking about RIM “Reaping the benefits of open source” but what I found most interesting is RIM’s commitment to open source. The quote I used in the title is from Tim Neil and totally signifies the change that has happened at RIM in a little over a year. Just reading what Pelegri says about RIM sticking as close as possible to the trunk of WebKit is amazing. Supposedly the browser team updates the browser “almost once a month and then rebase it and bring it back.” He once again confirms that the BlackBerry 10 browser is really just a native loader for webkit with the browser chrome and interface being pure WebKit.

If you are an open source junkie like me then you definitely want to check this article out. Let me know what you think in the comments!
