A friend pointed out that Oracle’s CEO, Larry Ellison, highlighted an interesting statistic during his “Big Data” demonstration at OpenWorld. They were showing off their data mining prowess by analyzing nearly 5 million tweets and 27 data points in a scenario. Ellison mentioned that BlackBerrys were right up there with Android and iOS as the top device used for the tweets. According to the VAR Guy (via N4BB):
Ellison offered a key disclaimer: He isn’t suggesting that it’s time to run out and buy Research In Motion stock (RIMM). But he did suggest that perhaps all the doom and gloom surrounding RIM and BlackBerry is over-stated.
They were doing the data analysis to find who was he most ideal olympic athlete to potentially promote a Lexus car. (USA Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas was selected) Its nice to see one of the leading enterprise companies out there acknowledging RIM’s large user base in the days leading up to BlackBerry 10. I am sure RIM is pushing heavily to partner with Oracle for their enterprise mobility solutions.
