StuffBak is a service that makes it easy for consumers and businesses to link valuable mobile devices to an international recovery network. It’s a simple idea that has proven to be effective. All you do is put a StuffBak label on your important device(s)…then you lose it! When someone finds the device, they see the label which encourages return with a reward and either call the toll free number or go to the StuffBak website. From there StuffBak either arranges for a courier to pick up the device and return it or the Good Samaritan can drop it off at any UPS location. They will be rewarded $20 which StuffBak covers. You also have the option of adding additional funds to the reward.
I don’t need to tell you how nerve-wracking it is to lose your valuable electronics. With services like BlackBerry Protect at least you can remotely wipe and even locate your device, but getting it back is another story. Don’t think that you’ll get your Stuff Bak? I was skeptical as well but it’s tough to argue with the numbers.
StuffBak has a proven track record:
- Edward Baig, in his USAToday article, intentionally lost 6 STUFFBAK-labeled portable items. 4 out of 6 were returned.
- Andrew Glassman, in his CNBC investigative report, intentionally lost 6 STUFFBAK-labeled portable items. 5 of the 6 were returned to him within 3 days.
- Across 15 independent media tests of StuffBak’s service, 75% of StuffBak-labeled items were recovered.
That’s not too shabby considering the majority of items without one of these nifty labels are never recovered.
