How to Add Yahoo Email, Contacts, & Calendar to Your PlayBook OS 2.0

If you happen to still be a Yahoo user and upgraded to PlayBook OS 2.0 you may have noticed that RIM does not have a menu option to add Yahoo accounts. It will easily add your Yahoo email account but contacts and calendar do not get setup easily. Turns out RIM has kindly put out a bit of detail on how to get that setup by yourself by using the CalDAV and CardDAV server configuration. I am still digging into it but these are the instructions for getting Yahoo contacts and calendar to sync:

To add a Yahoo Calendar account:

1. On the Home Screen, click on the Options cog at the top right of the System Tray
2. Click on Accounts
3. Click on Add New Account
4. Click on Email, Calendar and Contacts
5. Click on Advanced Setup
6. Scroll down and click on CalDAV
7. On the Account Integration screen, the Description field is optional, but can be filled in for clarity.
8. Enter the full Rogers email address in the Username and Email Address fields.
9. Enter the password in the Password field. Use the Show Password checkbox to ensure it is correct.
10. In the Server Address field, enter caldav.calendar.yahoo.com
11. Sync Interval can be changed with these values : 15 Minutes, 30 Minutes, 1 Hour, 2 Hours, 4 Hours, 24 Hours, or Manual. The default is 15 Minutes.
12. Click Save to finish.

To add a Yahoo Address book account:

1. On the Home Screen, click on the Options cog at the top right of the System Tray
2. Click on Accounts
3. Click on Add New Account
4. Click on Email, Calendar and Contacts

12. Click Save to finish.

To add a Yahoo Email account:

1. On the Home Screen, click on the Options cog at the top right corner of the System tray
2. Click on Accounts
3. Click on Add New Account
4. Click on Email, Calendar and Contacts
5. Enter a valid Email Account (for example, [email protected])
6. Enter a valid Password. Click the Show Password checkbox to ensure the password is correct.
7. Click Continue
8. On the Account Integration screen, the Description field is optional, but can be filled in for clarity if multiple accounts are created on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
9. Username and Email Address fields should both be the email address that was entered above.
10. Password is the password that was entered above.
11. Server Address field should show imap.mail.yahoo.com on Port 993 with the Use SSLswitch set to ON.
12. SMTP Username should be the email address that was entered above.
13. SMTP Password is the password that was entered above.
14. SMTP Server Address may default to smtp.mail.yahoo.com. It can also besmtp.broadband.rogers.com.
15. SMTP Port is 465.
16. SMTP Use SSL switch should be set to ON.
17. Use push if supported should be set to ON.
18. Sync Interval can be changed with these values : 5 Minutes, 15 Minutes, 30 Minutes, 1 Hour, 2 Hours, 4 Hours, 24 Hours, or Manual. The default is 5 Minutes.
19. Amount to Sync can be changed with these values : 7 Days, 14 Days, 30 Days, or No Limit.
20. Click Save to finish.
