Review: AGF GRT Shell Case For The Torch 9800

100_7803Most protective cases I have tried for the Torch 9800 have problems with the top piece coming off fairly easy when bumped.  We were sent two  of the new AGF GRT (Glide Rail Technology) shell cases for the Torch 9800 a blue and chrome.

Package: The package sent to us came with two cases  in a chrome and blue top piece the back piece is black.

Case: The case is a two piece that snaps on to make one piece. The coolest factor and what makes this case different from most is their implementation of Glide Rail Technology.

Set up: The case is easy to take off or put on the torch. You simply take the back part place you torch inside and then snap the second top piece into place and put a little pressure and you are ready to go. Am not sure if this is the proper way to take the case off but all you have to do is slide the screen out and push the top piece out from the bottom and it comes right off.

Use: The case does give you device a more bulky look but  something I got used to quick because it protects my device. The case doesn’t make it hard to slide the screen out when with one finger.

AT&T Product description:

Glide through life with AGF’s GRT(TM) Case. AGF’s Glide Rail Technology (GRT) case attaches to itself, not your phone, so there’s no need stress over any scratches during installation and removal. AGF’s GRT case is made with two advanced types of plastic. The first is a durable polycarbonate that will protect your phone from dings and scratches. The second is Glide-tech Resin(TM), a super slick material that will ensure your phone opens and closes with ease. Our GRT was engineered to protect your phone’s slider mechanism by allowing it to slide in only two directions, up and down. Best of all, this GRT case comes with two fronts – one in smoked chrome to keep your phone’s fresh out-of-the-box look and a cool dark blue metallic with a soft touch finish. The AGF GRT case is the ultimate way to protect your device while still looking stylish.

My experience using the AGF GRT Case:

Unlike other cases I tested for the Torch 9800  this one fits really good on the it, and taking it off is just as simple. The case stays in place due to the GRT technology in the case  and it is what makes it different from all other type of snap on. AGF has found their way around the difficulty of making snap on cases for this device because some of the others cases I have seen the top piece usually comes off easily or break with wear. The AGF GRT that I have been using for quite a while and dropped a few times and the top pieces is still in good shape.   The back is smooth and provides access to all the convenience keys and ports.

Pros:

  • Easy to snap on and off
  • Good protection
  • Sets itself apart from most of the snap on cases
  • attaches itself not to the device
  • Made out of polycarbonate and Glide-tech resin
  • Does not scratch your device on install or removal
  • Two color combo available blue and chrome
  • Stylish design

Cons:

Some of the charging USB’s don’t fit snuggly it is still able to charge but you have to make sure the BlackBerry is plugged in correctly while you set it to charge. Other than that I really like the case. Got one for my friend and he is usually very picky with his cases and so far no complains from him.
