Last week we told you that Paul of QNX was doing some digging into the history of QNX back when it was called Quantum. He was hunting for the earliest mention of QNX in the news and what he found was an InfoWorld article from March 21, 1983 about QNX v1.0. He then said:
I mentioned a challenge, and here it is: Can you find an even earlier article on QNX? If you can, I will bow to your superior search-engine mastery.
It looks like Paul will have to do some bowing to one of our readers Win Decker. He spotted an earlier article in InfoWorld mentioning Quantum Software Systems from October 11, 1982. The odd part is that they talk about the “unveiled multitasking, multiuser version of it QUNIX operating system.” Does that mean QNX used to be called QUNIX or did they simply get the spelling wrong!
Check out the InfoWorld article from 1982 at this link and kudos to Win Decker!
