RIM Launches Facebook 2.0 Beta With Facebook Chat

RIM just let us know that they just launched a beta version of the new Facebook 2.0 in the beta zone. Based on the leaked slides we saw last week we knew this was on the works but I am surprise to see it this soon. Kudos to RIM.

Today RIM is pleased to announce that it has launched a new beta version of Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones.

There are currently well over 30 million monthly active users on Facebook for BlackBerry and approximately 21 million active daily users on Facebook for BlackBerry.
 
Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones is the easiest way for BlackBerry users to access their Facebook account and stay connected to their friends, family and peers while on the go. 
 
Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v2.0, with a new look and feel, provides a more integrated, compelling mobile Facebook experience and makes it even easier for BlackBerry users to keep track of friends, book meetings and add content to their profiles.  Key features of the app include:

  • Notifications

  •          Redesigned Navigation Grid
  •          New Notifications Bar
  •          Improved News Feed Scrolling

  •          Added Publisher Functionality

    Please note the initial beta release will be available for BlackBerry 6 users only, but support for BlackBerry® Device Software 4.6 and higher will be added in subsequent beta releases and will be available at launch.
