The last time I got a chance to play with a BlackBerry PlayBook was back at CES so I was excited to play the recently announced EA games last night. I obviously had to try Need for Speed on the PlayBook and I have to say I am impressed. The graphics are spot on and the game play is both fun and simple. I really hope RIM finds a way to have developers pump out many more games like this one. Check out what I mean in the short video below:
I tried taking a video while playing but ended up giving up and just took a video while Mac from PocketBerry played for my camera. 🙂 We had them showing off how the game would work if you have the settings set to pause apps and games when you switch to another app. Not as impressive but makes more functional sense!
Still I have to say I am looking forward to BlackBerry gaming after this. I know many of the Android games are made using their NDK (Native Development Kit) and that is exactly how these PlayBook apps were developed using the Tablet OS NDK based on C/C++. That means we can hopefully look forward to some solid gaming on the PlayBook!
What game do you want to see brought to the PlayBook? My vote is for some sort of guitar hero or rock band like game…
