RIM got around to releasing the session catalog for their first BlackBerry World Conference which has replaced the Wireless Enterprise Symposium (WES). The thing is the sessions look almost exactly like the WES lineups did last year. Just take the sessions that RIM considers “General Audience” as an example. 40 of the 54 “General Audience” sessions have a nice disclaimer that says:
This session is for qualified carrier professionals and industry affiliates. Attendees must be on a valid RIM NDA agreement. Show management reserves the right to restrict participation.
That kind of makes you wonder who the general audience for BlackBerry World will be. Carriers? I thought RIM’s move was away from the enterprise focus to add consumer focus but it seems like they might have a different target audience for what they consider consumers.
Still there are a couple good sessions in there that give some insight into what RIM plans in the future. Should be interesting to see what they have to say come early May. Check out the session catalog for yourself at this link.
PS: Dear RIM please stop using this annoying session catalog software for BlackBerry World. Every link is JavaScript which means we cannot link to sessions we recommend. It also refreshes the page every 5 minutes just to piss users off.
