RIM’s acquisition of The Astonishing Tribe makes more sense the more demo apps you see from them. It looks like RIM is leaning on them to develop some sweet looking demo apps for the PlayBook and hopefully some that will actually be released. We saw a demo of their stereoscopic 3D app before but now RIM has put up their own official demo video of the app below:
The video shows off the PlayBook outputting Stereoscopic 3D over the HDMI output with 1080P video and Multi-Touch support. The app even looks good without glasses as you see in the video. Hopefully TAT will be releasing the source code to their apps for others to build on the or making these demos into actual apps. I am waiting to get some real alternative video players on my BlackBerry even if it is limited to the PlayBook.
